Stories about Campus Co-Evolve

“What kind of story brought you here?

In mid-June this year, a group of people from different countries around the world gathered in a place called Hawkwood College in the UK. This group of people share a common vision, and they are also the first batch of students in the Four Rivers Course at Campus Co-Evolve. They call themselves r.evolutionary change-makers , let’s call themselves “change-makers “.

Ancient human wisdom

Our story will go back to a very old age. At that time, the first humans on all continents of the earth had mixed feelings about the natural environment they lived in. On the one hand, they were grateful for the provision of the land, and at the same time they were full of awe for the natural thunder and storms. Nature is really a respectable friend and terrible enemy! When a danger from a foreign race or nature threatens their home, the tribal elders will sit around the bonfire in the middle of the village, listening, telling, and listening again until wisdom emerges for everyone from the circle. Then they stood up and knew what to do next.

Fast forward to ten thousand years later. The earth homeland where humans live is facing greater danger. However, human social organizations are not prepared to deal with such severe challenges. One of them, Margaret Mead, called, “The world is changing so fast that our people and government will no longer be able to act as guardians to deal with this change. The only thing that can save them will be Education-learning community…”

Where are the talents and skills that can lead us to make a huge transformation at the thinking, relationship, and system level? How to form that kind of “education-learning community”? Now, these problems have brought a group of human friends together again, sitting around the campfire of the digital global village.

Gradually, the vision of a virtual school emerged. In this space, those who are worried about human survival and hope to guide change through profound transformation come here to learn together, learn from experience, share their successes and failures along the way, and form a community of practice (Community of Practice).

The birth of Campus Co-Evolve

Vision germination action. In March 2019, the school began to send her first gift, the “Four Rivers” course, to changemakers around the world. The mandala of this course then became the philosophical foundation of teaching and learning in this school. As shown in the figure below, the four interconnected rivers of ABCD have become the holistic teaching framework of this school, rooted in the soil of integrated theory.

In terms of learning form, courses including “Four Rivers” include online real-time video teaching, group discussions, online forums, chat rooms, knowledge bases, virtual cafes, virtual story centers, and other co-creation spaces.

Undoubtedly, the most popular feature of these courses is the “reverse classroom”, where each practitioner becomes each other’s teacher, and the role of the teacher is to guide the occurrence of this learning. In order to prepare for this kind of activity, they all need to participate in group work activities and then share their findings through online videos.

The first group of changers in the “Four Rivers” course came from China, Germany, Russia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. On the campus website, you can see the real feedback from these students. Because of the popular experience of the first course, in the fall of 2019, the second phase of this course will be launched soon.

The present moment

Just like a newborn baby, Campus Co-Evolve is rapidly learning and growing in many fields. She is currently committed to integrating the subject knowledge related to adult education such as evolutionary andragogy, Rhizomatic Learning, connectivism, and personal knowledge management.

All of this can be achieved mainly through direct dialogue with practitioners in the field of social transformation, whose actions will lead us there. At the same time, we are also working with some university institutions to certify our courses, obtain financial support, and attract teachers who are thought leaders to join. In particular, we need to mention that we operate on the basis of independent management practices and the structure of social enterprises.

As a learning community, whether at the individual or collective level, we are still in a process of development. What can emerge in this accelerated, multi-dimensional, and cross-scenario learning process is unpredictable, full of surprises along the way. The seeds in this piece of soil have begun to sprout, but what will it grow into… Perhaps there is an answer we want to know in the ideals of the new buds that have just broken out of the ground.

What time is it now?
The emerging reality of the earth is challenging us in crazy ways. What one eye sees, everything seems to be getting better and better. For example, we are witnessing unprecedented leaps in the development of science and technology. As a result, the average life expectancy is increasing, and those who are just born may be able to live to 150 or even 200 if their lifestyle is healthy enough.

What moment does the other eye see now? We see that the refugee crisis still exists, a large amount of violence and terrorism is still rampant, social polarization is intensifying, a large number of species are continuing to disappear, human souls are experiencing chronic massacres, and lives are being spent on just earning salaries and a lot of nothing. Meaningful work, in management terms, is “employees are not dedicated.”

Just as nature was to our ancestors, robots and artificial intelligence can become human friends or enemies. As Kai-Fu Lee said, “The coming AI revolution will bring us either the best era or the worst era.” This revolution can free us from human necessities and lead all human beings. Enter the era of abundance. Or, it will trigger a massive wave of unemployment, and as the power of capitalist surveillance increases, humans will be placed under the control of “big brother” behavior.

Where are we going? This is a race against time. At present, a key factor in this race — the speed of consciousness evolution is far behind other fields, which is very dangerous. The good news is that more and more of us are aware of this danger, and they realize that this test can only be passed by working together. As De Rijin once said, “There is always a real desire to communicate with people with vision. The great sense of accomplishment that can be brought about by friendship between people who are committed to promoting the evolution of consciousness is of indescribable quality.”

So, are we rushing towards the destruction of civilization (Break-down) or breakthrough (Break-through)? Which force will lead the mainstream in the end? Will things get better or worse? Whether the answer is scary or exciting depends on us. Alone, we will feel insignificant and unable to influence real change. Our strength lies in supporting each other and learning together how to improve our individual and collective capabilities as changemakers.

This is why the mission pursued by Campus Co-Evolve is:

Through the most advanced digital, social, and intrinsic technology,

Cultivate a global network and practical community of changers,

New ability to trigger huge effects in all dimensions where the transformation occurs

The story is not over yet

This story is not over yet, because we know how great the challenges will be in the coming years and decades. We welcome and choose to participate in the challenge because this is how we can evolve. But we cannot do this without all of you, because in a sense, there is no personal evolution, only co-evolution. Let us explore what this means in practice.

Do you want to create our courses with us? There is such a path now. We will open three courses in October. You can choose to sign up for any of these courses, so that you can get familiar with our educational philosophy, the resources of our platform, our teachers and support partners in action. Of course Also achieve your learning goals in this course. Because every course is influenced by your peers, you will have plenty of opportunities to co-create in the course.

Do you want to participate in the ongoing co-evolutionary movement, help spread new abilities, and promote a deeper transformation of the world in a faster way? You can join our Co-evolution Ambassador Network (CAN) to spread our course information in a more interesting and innovative way with other ambassadors, so that our work can benefit more people.

Do you have expertise in public relations or video editing and production? We need your participation. These areas are critical to spread our influence. You will have the opportunity to join other partners in our network who assume similar roles.

Are you an enterprising philanthropist or an impact investor, hoping that your funds can achieve truly high-value evolutionary returns? You can consider investing in the comprehensive development of the capabilities of change leaders and facilitators to amplify their positive influence in the direction of evolutionary change?

If you have other ideas and hope that working with us can support your own mission and work, please contact us. We will be happy to hear your thoughts!

What you just heard is a self-retrospective story of a six-month-old life. We want to write the next chapter of our story with you. If anything in this story resonates in your heart, let us evolve together from now on!
